DEBCC Business Beacon

Issue #6 | April 2021

From the President's Office

Dear Members, Neighbors, and Friends,

Spring is officially here, and we look forward to warmer days with the change of the season, along with continued focus on our mission to advance the economic footprint in Delaware for our valued members, and for the minority business community.Did you know? - The state of Delaware declares that we have 287 black businesses in the state. The U.S. Census Bureau states that we have 553 black businesses in the state of Delaware, and we rank 33rd in the nation for black own business success. What’s the true number of black businesses in the state of Delaware? No one knows.

For the past 5 months, the Delaware Black Chamber of Commerce has been building a directory of black businesses in the state of Delaware. Our directory consists of 550 black owned businesses. We are appreciative of the businesses that have trusted us through the process, as well as appreciative of the State of Delaware for their continued support  and partnership with the DEBCC.

We continue to encourage our members to get certified as a MBE/WBE with the State of Delaware and to complete their census.

Thank you to ALL of our valued members!!!

As always, we continue our resolve to advance our economic footprint in Delaware, and our commitment to our members has never been stronger.

Warmest regards,
Ayanna Khan
Chief Executive Officer

We were also able to observe the on site administration of Covid-19 vaccinations.  We are so proud of them!
